Call of Duty League Adopts New Structure for the 2021 Season

The Call of Duty League 2020 season ended with Dallas Empire clinching the trophy after beating a dominant Atlanta FaZe. After the conclusion of the inaugural season, CDL announced major changes for the 2021 season.
Firstly, CDL switched to a 4v4 format over the previous 5v5 games. Secondly, teams will now compete on PC with league-approved controllers instead of consoles. Finally, as Call of Duty enters the Black Ops Cold War era, Activision has a new structure for the league.
The League announced the new structure in a blog post on the official website. It also uploaded a video to explain the structure on the official YouTube channel.

Call of Duty League to host majors in 5 stages followed by playoffs
According to the new structure, there will be 5 majors where all 12 teams will be divided into groups. They will follow double-elimination brackets for all the games, and the results of a major will decide seeds for the next major.

Teams’ performances throughout the 5 majors will win them points. The league will use these points to rank all the teams in a table. At the end of these majors, the top 8 teams will qualify for the playoffs and a shot at winning the Call of Duty League Champion title.
