In the world of boxing, the spotlight usually shines on the competitors inside the ring. However, that’s not the case today! In an unexpected, almost peculiar turn of events, the spotlight went to the people beside the fighters. Recently, Rianna Doforo went toe-to-toe with Milagros Hernandez Gonzalez in Mexico, winning the fight. While she received praise for the win, the so-called ‘Ring Boys’ stole the show.

Moreover, after EverythingBoxing shared a clip of the winner being announced, it drew attention from IBF Flyweight champion Sunny Edwards. However, it wasn’t for Doforo’s win or anything related to her fight, for that matter. Turning to X (formerly Twitter), Edwards questioned who are the men shirtless in the ring with Doforo and her opponent. He wrote, “Who’s in the ring with boxing shorts an his top off? Am I missing something?” As the post started circulating, fans poured in to poke fun at the peculiar scene.

15-year-old Rianna Doforo in the ring with shirtless men raises eyebrows

Since the tweet went live on X, it has collected over 264K views and diverse opinions. While some guessed who the men could be, others branded the men “Ring Boys.” However, among all the comments, one name stood out the most. It was Sunny Edwards who decided to comment on the situation.

Edwards suggested that the presence of a shirtless man in the ring alongside the underage Doforo is “inappropriate.”

Sandy Ryan, the WBO female Welterweight champion, also found her way to the comment section, claiming she also found the situation odd.

One user asserted that the organizers might have hired “ring boys” because the entire fight card was filled with women.

Another user questioned if the shirtless men were “ring guys.”

The next user highlighted the shift in the dynamics around the presence of ring girls during a boxing match.

Doforo’s manager on her young age

Recently, Rianna Doforo defeated 39-year-old Milagros Hernandez Gonzalez in Mexico via points in a four-round fight. Due to her young age, the British Boxing Board of Control did not grant Doforo a boxing license. It prompted her manager to organize the fight in Mexico, where she was cleared to fight. While Doforo will have to wait to fight professionally in the UK, her manager is not worried.
