Celtics Injury Report: Update on Jaylen Brown’s Availability Status for Tonight’s Game vs Grizzlies Amid Back Problems

The Boston Celtics have been the most consistent team in the NBA for the last three to four seasons, and the 2023-24 season is no different. The Celtics have set the pace for the rest of the league, as they currently occupy the 1st spot in the Eastern Conference standings, with a 37-12 record. There are very few weaknesses within the current composition of the Celtics’ roster, and the C’s are poised for another deep postseason run.
But before that, the Celtics face the Memphis Grizzlies later tonight. Fans of the Celtics face an anxious wait, as the availability of Jaylen Brown remains uncertain for tonight.

The game between the Celtics and the Grizzlies is scheduled to tip-off by 6:00 PM, Eastern Time at the TD Garden in Boston. On paper, it is a straightforward win for the top-seeded Celtics. However, Boston might miss the services of a few key players for the match. The Celtics have listed 3x NBA All-Star Jaylen Brown as questionable for tonight’s game due to lower back tightness. Brown’s injury appears to be new, as he wasn’t listed in Boston’s previous injury reports. In fact, he played 27 minutes against the Lakers on Thursday.
Apart from Brown, the Celtics have also listed Luke Kornet as probable for tonight’s game. Kornet has missed Boston’s last three games because of a hamstring injury. While the Celtics have most of their players fit and ready for the match, the same can’t be said about the Grizzlies. Their roster has been obliterated by injuries. Key players like Ja Morant (shoulder), Marcus Smart (finger), and Desmond Bane (ankle) have all been ruled out for the game against the Celtics. To add more grief to the injury list, reigning Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY) Jaren Jackson Jr. has also been ruled out for tonight’s game due to right hip soreness.

Predicted Lineups: Celtics vs Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies go into the game as huge underdogs. A win against the Celtics would be an upset of massive proportions. However, the Grizzlies will play without any fear, as they aren’t burdened with playoff expectations because of their injury crisis. The Grizzlies could start the game with John Konchar, Luke Kennard, Vince Williams Jr., GG Jackson, and Santi Aldama.

For the Celtics, this game presents a straightforward opportunity for victory, perhaps as straightforward as wins can be in the NBA. Moreover, the Celtics have been impervious at the TD Garden, with only three losses and 22 victories. The Celtics also might decide to rest a few key players for this game. They could begin the game with Payton Pritchard, Derrick White, Jayson Tatum, Al Horford, and Neemias Queta.
