Coach Gregg’s Special Gift Has Devin Booker Spilling Beans on Japan Olympic Gold Aftermath: “I Know We Drank One”

The Phoenix Suns blew out the San Antonio Spurs 131-106 in tonight’s game. It was a one-sided affair throughout, as Kevin Durant and Co. never trailed Gregg Popovich’s team and even led by 32 points at one time. Despite the loss, there was nothing but love between Coach Pop and Devin Booker after the game. Popovich even left Booker a special gift, leading to the Suns superstar spilling the beans on the aftermath of their 2020 Olympics gold win.
Devin Booker revealed during his post-game interview that Gregg Popovich left him a nice bottle of wine after tonight’s game. Coach Pop’s wholesome gesture left Booker reminiscing about their time together in Japan. “I know we drank one together after we won gold. We have some incredible memories even though it was a short amount of time in Japan.” Devin Booker won his maiden Olympic Gold medal during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics under the leadership of head coach Gregg Popovich. The Suns superstar admitted to sharing wine with the legendary Spurs head coach after bringing gold for the USA.

Booker further claimed that his relationship with Popovich got even stronger during their time together in Japan. “I always had a high respect for him, but our relationship took off while I was out there.” Gregg Popovich is one of the most respected head coaches in the league and it is warming to see Booker appreciating his greatness.

Although Booker finished the night with a wholesome interaction with Gregg Popovich, he was all business on the court. Booker had an impressive offensive performance in tonight’s blowout win. He scored a game-high 32 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds. Booker’s co-star Kevin Durant also had a great game, finishing with 25 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Four other Suns players also scored in double digits and proved even more impressive on the defensive end as they contained rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama to only 13 points.

After the game, Kevin Durant revealed how Phoenix was able to stop Wembanyama from getting hot. “It’s a team effort with him. You can’t guard him 1-on-1.”

KD applauded the Suns for showing great team effort in containing Wembanyama and executing their game plan to perfection. The Suns were so dominant that Gregg Popovich emptied the Spurs bench with quite some time left in the game. Kevin Durant and Devin Booker hope to continue playing like they did tonight and make a push before the playoffs start.
