Kevin Garnett Breaks Silence on Profound Conversation With NBA Champion: “Thx DrJ…”

Excuse us, Mr. Garnett, the game’s in the front. But the Big Ticket couldn’t focus on the Lakers and Pelicans that day when he was seated next to an icon. Trash-talking extraordinaire, Kevin Garnett was reduced to a fanboy beside Philadelphia 76ers legend, Julius Erving, when both were seated courtside on December 7.
Instead of picking up talking points from the game for his KG Certified show, Garnett chatted up Dr J as the Pelicans suffered a blowout 133-89 loss to the Lakers. An NBA fan page shared the images of KG and Dr J talking which Garnett shared on his Instagram Stories.
And the 2004 MVP revealed a little more about his interaction with heartfelt gratitude. “Chopping it up with greatness,” Garnett wrote with saluting emojis. “Doc J was giving me some Life Game… Thx DrJ.”

What we wouldn’t give to get some ‘Life Game’ from Dr J. Perhaps, KG could generously enlighten us with his heart-to-heart with Erving. Or maybe he could confirm if he told him about Adam Sandler.

Garnett and Sandler go way beyond their partnership on Uncut Gems (2019). The funnyman is a diehard basketball fanatic and his attendance at basketball games has forged friendships with NBA stars like Garnett. During an appearance on KG Certified, they discussed Sandler unknowingly copying Steve Smith’s iconic Smitty move. But Sandler’s true inspiration was always Dr J.
It might be the same for Garnett. But despite his courtside chat with Dr J, the legend himself was occupied with other things.

Julius Erving watches games on paper
During the In-Season Tournament semifinals, the announcers were just as honored as Garnett to have Dr J in T-Mobile Arena. But the superstar was hardly interested in LeBron James’ 30-point Lakeshow.
Everyone caught Dr J staring at a piece of paper instead of watching the game. It prompted Doc Rivers to say into the mic, “He even sits down cool. Who reads a stat sheet like that.” So, Dr J would rather read all the statistics and chat with Kevin Garnett instead of watching the Pelicans’ downfall that was sealed in the first half.
