Kevin Durant is having a truly exceptional season. Not only is he performing great at a personal level, but he is also contributing hugely to the Phoenix Suns, who are only 7 games behind the 1st seed in the ultra-competitive West. While the Suns left the Toyota Center in Houston, with their second consecutive defeat, their Slim Reaper still took the spotlight. The all-around impactful player has etched his name in the history books yet again as he moved up to the 9th position in the NBA All-Time scoring list.
After recording his 28,289th career point at the beginning of the fourth quarter against the Rockets, Durant left his childhood inspiration Carmelo Anthony behind. Now his eyes are set on leaving his other idol behind– Shaquille O’Neal.

Shaquille O’Neal retired from the professional league in 2011 with his career scoreboard reading 28,596 points. He has maintained his spot at the 9th rank for quite some time now. However, the better is always around the corner. And it just might be Kevin Durant for Shaq. Currently, he is only 300 points behind Shaq with 28,296 points in his bag. With a scoring rate of 28.1 points per game, it may be a possibility for KD to get ahead in March.
Kevin Durant surpassed Carmelo Anthony on the NBA all-time scoring list at No. 9.

Previously, he left Moses Malone behind to grab the tenth spot with 27,410 points. And it barely took him three months to go past Anthony. However, this is not the only way this exemplary forward is contributing to the Suns’ locker room.

Durant has continuously shown that he is a very versatile player. Currently, he collects 6.7 rebounds and dishes out 5.6 assists per game. His remarkable 53.3% field goal accuracy also got him the 24th spot in the league. Additionally, he is shooting 42.9% from beyond the arc so far this season.
Nevertheless, the Suns may still jump back with the upcoming game against the LA Lakers. LeBron’s Lakers also don’t seem to having much luck as they have also lost 27 of 58 total matches. Both teams are heavily relying on their big players to grab another win.
