“I f***ing love you, Joe Rogan!” – Sean O’Malley has made this declaration several times to the UFC commentator during his Octagon interviews. So it was no surprise that he was not on board with the idea of losing Rogan along with another key figure in the UFC. Around two years ago in 2022, color commentator Joe Rogan was in very hot waters. There was a compilation of Rogan saying racial slurs that were making rounds on social media. Finally, Spotify gave in, because of its reputation, and many of the podcaster’s episodes were removed for controversial content. Since the public supposedly ‘canceled’ Joe Rogan, UFC also did not want him commenting on their cards.

This is when UFC CEO Dana White decided to stand up for his friend and planned to resign from his position if they were planning to kick Rogan out. ‘Sugar’ recently reacted to this news from the past. Sean O’Malley does not want to lose two UFC legends

In episode #279 of the show, Sean O’Malley stated he does not want to lose two legends together and the bantamweight champion explained his stance. While speaking about the 2022 incident, he said, “God imagine if Joe and Dana, because if Joe leaves Dana leaves, Dana leaves Joe leaves. We’re gonna lose two legends…Those guys can both run that for a long time.”

The UFC champion went on to say that they did not need to retire from the UFC because there is no age for them to quit. They could keep running this legendary show for as long as they wanted. Both of them are significant for UFC because Rogan is the biggest voice in the promotion’s commentary team, while White runs the whole show. 

This throwback incident mentioned by ‘Sugar’ shows the bond between the two who have been in the fight business for decades. The incident has been in the headlines again after White explained the events of 2022 during his recent sit-down with Lex Fridman. In 2022, Dana White had to take a drastic step to stand beside his friend.

Dana White’s unwavering support for Joe Rogan

The famous podcaster came under fire for using the N-word and UFC was about to distance themselves from the 56-year-old. Dana White recalled the incident in a recent podcast chat with Sage Steele and said, “First of all, the whole Rogan thing that happened was 10 years earlier. Rogan was quoting somebody when he used the word. It was a quote,” said White.

He also stated, “I can’t say what’s gonna happen when I leave, but when I’m here, the people who are with me and have been with me they know exactly what’s up, and Joe knows what’s up. It’s a two-way street. Joe Rogan has been very loyal to me, and I am very loyal to Joe Rogan.”

Following this controversy, the UFC was forced to state that they were planning to let Joe Rogan go. This is when Dana White stepped in and threatened the administration that he would rather vacate his position at the UFC than let go of Joe Rogan! During a previous interview on the Lex Fridman podcast, the CEO stated, “Anybody who is with me, has been with me, knows, when you’re with me, you’re with me”. He also stated, “Joe Rogan has been very loyal to me, and I am very loyal to Joe Rogan.”

Rogan has been a part of this promotion since 1997 and a mainstay since White signed him following the Zuffa takeover. Nonetheless, his longtime friend and CEO stayed by his side and made sure everything was balanced. What is your opinion on this controversy?
