When the Nintendo Switch launched in 2017, fans were blown away by what it offered. The ability to play a bunch of triple-A home console titles on the move was indeed something special. To this day, every game that has sold well on this console has done so because it offered the ability to be played on the go.

Slowly, it became the second-best-selling console of all time, and some of its titles have broken numerous sales records within days of their launch. And now many think this console is at the last leg of its journey. Is it though?

Did the recent Nintendo Switch Direct prove rumors of its end wrong?

Rumors of the Nintendo Switch 2 might be true; it might launch anytime now; for all anyone knows, Nintendo might announce it next week this time. But one thing is for sure: Nintendo Switch would still live, and gamers would still enjoy a bunch of titles released with Nintendo Switch on their boxes.

Nintendo recently held a direct, during which, they did not reveal just a couple of remasters but actually went all out. The Direct started with the DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but it soon caught steam and revealed some really interesting titles.

First was the Super Mario RPG Remake; it’s not a remaster with a resolution boost, it’s a remake. New character designs, new textures, maybe even new gameplay mechanics—there’s much that has yet to be revealed about it. But one would say, It’s just a remake, and so is that Luigi’s Mansion 2: Dark Moon port for Switch.

But Nintendo also announced a mysterious platformer starring none other than Princess Peach. One can be very curious and wonder if they announced that game based on the popularity of the recently released Super Mario Bros. movie.

Then came the long-rumored Arkham trilogy and Metal Gear Master Collection Volume 1, remasters, of course. But the biggest blast came in the form of Pikmin 1 and 2 remasters; no one was expecting that. People were seen discussing how they were more interested in these games than the upcoming Pikmin 4.

And if this was not enough, Nintendo had one last thing to show: Super Mario Bros. Wonder. A very interesting and creative 2D platformer featuring everyone in Mario’s gang. This is the second mainline Mario title in the six years of the Switch’s life cycle. The first was Super Mario Odyssey, which launched with the console back in 2017.

A company does not reveal such massive titles for a dying console, and fans do not instantly buy games for a console they are fed up with. People might say otherwise, but the Nintendo Switch is very much in the prime of its life for its parent company and fans.
