The live-action trailer starts with Makarov being inside a prison and is seen donning scary tattoos. In the background is Captain Price giving a voiceover about the villain himself. “This is not a threat. Not an if, but when.” Price describes him as a “force of evil who seeks to tear the world apart peace by peace”.
As the trailer concludes, we see Makarov (played by actor Julian Kostov) leaving the prison. One can assume he’s on his mission of something sinister. “To him, every ally is a weapon, every bystander a shield”, Price continues to speak.

“We don’t know his next target, but we know ours. Makarov.” With this line, the Call of Duty Modern Warfare III reveal trailer cuts to the release date of the awaited game. In its entirety, the clip is full of elements to decipher for hardcore franchise lovers. For example, there’s a scene of an area getting exploded. It could be the event connecting to the destruction of Verdansk.
Then there’s another sequence featuring innocent civilians running for their lives. It might be a callback to the infamous “No Russian” mission from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2. Soon after its worldwide reveal, Julian Kostov, the new face of Makarov shared the trailer on his personal Twitter account. In a way, he’s now officially a part of the CoD universe.
