One of the recent additions that has garnered acclaim is the Spider-Man franchise. Centered on Marvel’s friendly neighborhood web-slinger, the Spider-Man games have captivated fans worldwide.

At present, the series comprises two games: Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020). Developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, both have received worldwide praise. After much anticipation, the highly awaited sequel, Spider-Man 2, will be unveiled in the upcoming PlayStation Showcase, creating hype among fans.

What to expect from Spider-Man 2 reveal at PlayStation Showcase?

PlayStation Showcase and PlayStation State of Play are different events. While PlayStation State of Play happens every other month and focuses on game updates and announcements, PlayStation Showcase is a much bigger event. It features some of the most important announcements of the year and upcoming years. Spider-Man 2 was announced at the PlayStation Showcase 2021. 

In the upcoming showcase, it is expected that more news regarding the game will finally be made public. According to an industry insider, the showcase will share some gameplay footage of the title. Their report has revealed that the most notable feature of the new game will be the “swing and jump animations”.

Fans were highly disappointed when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was absent from both The Game Awards 2022 and the last Sony State of Play in March 2023. Despite having received a trailer during the PlayStation Showcase in 2021, there have been very few updates on the game since then. This has left fans eager for more information.

However, recent leaks and reports indicate that fans can anticipate several reveals during the upcoming Showcase. Among the highlights expected is the long-awaited initial release date for Spider-Man 2, an enticing story trailer featuring three minutes of gameplay, a glimpse at new suits for the web-slinger, a sneak peek at the lineup of villains, a tease of the Venom Symbiote, and the starting date of pre-orders for the game.

The upcoming PS Showcase is scheduled to be broadcasted live next Wednesday, May 24 at 1 pm Pacific Time. Other than Spider-Man, other announcements are lined up for the event including Wolverine, The Last of Us, and many more!
