Marvel’s Spider-Man created a perfect plot for a follow-up game. With Miles Morales being introduced at the end of the game as a potential new candidate to take up the mantle of Spider-Man, we expect to see more of him in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as well. While we more or less know who to expect as the protagonist, the antagonist characters are what have our attention.

Traditionally, Spider-Man games boast some of the best villains in gaming. The 2018 release saw Peter Parker having a tough time taking on the Sinister Six. Led by Doctor Octopus, the team had many other formidable foes whom Spider-Man managed to take down. And now, our focus shifts to the main antagonist in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. So far, Kraven, Venom, and Lizard have been confirmed to appear in the game.

Kraven, unlike others, has a more straightforward agenda for battling it out with Spider-Man. The Russian aristocrat and big-game hunter is constantly on the lookout for challenging prey. Understandably, Peter Parker ticks all the right boxes. On the other hand, Venom wishes to preach the supremacy of the alien symbiote and Spider-Man is standing in his way. Unlike them both, Lizard just wants to create a better, more enhanced species. But with questionable mode of action, Spider-Man needs to step in. However, based on the previous chemistries between these characters and Spider-Man, we can be sure that Venom will be playing a much bigger and more crucial villainous role in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Along with these villains, Wilson Fisk, AKA Kingpin, might also pay Spider-Man a surprise visit coming out of prison. With Fisk’s extensive command over the crime scene in New York, we can easily expect him to take another attempt at bringing in the web-slinger once and for all.

In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we should also expect to see Peter’s best bud Harry making an appearance. While Harry is now cured, thanks to his father’s relentless work, Harry might not be entirely balanced in his own head. However, Green Goblin still maybe just a new arc that will see a culmination in the third installment of the franchise.

Other potential villains in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Among other smaller fishes, Spider-Man may be kept busy by the likes of Black Cat and Prowler. While Black Cat has an on-and-off relationship with Spider-Man, at some point they were considered adversaries. Hence, Black Cat coming for Brooklyn’s best wouldn’t be a far-fetched idea. On the other hand, Aaron Davis is still in a state of disbelief about Spider-Man’s intentions and has not decided on what to do about it.

In Marvel’s Spider-Man, Yuri Watanabe went rogue after losing some of her co-workers. This could set up a perfect plotline for Wraith to come looking for answers from Spider-Man. Herman Schultz, AKA Shocker, played a minor role in the 2018 Marvel’s Spider-Man. With his name being briefly flashed in the already-released footage, we fully look forward to seeing him once again trying to make a bigger impact this time around.

Also, we should note that Doc Ock is still alive, albeit in captivity. Now since we all know how fond Peter is of the Doctor, we do expect an interaction between the mad scientist and Spider-Man in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Failing to get the Sinister Six to do his bidding in the previous game, we should believe that Ock has something on his mind that will unravel to be something truly harrowing for NYC.

Also, expect to see Dr. Morgan Michaels morph into Morbius in the upcoming title despite him playing a pivotal role in saving New York from the Devil’s Breath in the last game. Last but not least, fully look forward to standing against Sandman or Mysterio in Marevl’s Spider-Man 2. Both of these two villains have their own sets of issues with the web-slinger and we can get to see them trying to wreck as much damage as possible to Spider-Man and NYC.
