F1 introduced the #WeRaceAsOne initiative in 2020 to challenge the difficulties faced because of COVID and global inequality. F1 has stepped up once again in some difficult times for the people of the Emilia-Romagna region. Charles Leclerc broke a record with his $329,000 collection for the relief fund and now F1 drivers and teams, including Lewis Hamilton raise a massive amount by signing trophies. But how much did they actually manage to raise?

The Emilia Romagna GP race in Imola got canceled due to the floods in the region. F1 teams and drivers have been supporting the floods and donating to the various relief funds set up. Charles Leclerc was one of those noblemen as he auctioned his specially designed Monaco Race Suit and Helmet and donated the amount to the relief funds. The Bell helmet broke the record for the most expensive helmet as it was sold for $329,000. Ayrton Senna’s helmet from the 1990 season previously held this record.

In a Tweet uploaded by @LukeSmithF1, F1 drivers and Team Principals can be seen signing the Imola GP trophies. The trophies were auctioned off and $312,000 were collected. The amount will be donated to the Emilia-Romagna flood relief fund. In the post, Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso, and Guenther Steiner’s images signing the trophies have been inserted.

This isn’t the only step taken by the F1 teams and drivers as multiple efforts have been made since the tragedy occurred. Let’s see what all teams and drivers have done. 

What have the teams and drivers done to help the people in the Emilia-Romagna region?

Charles Leclerc wasn’t the only one who tried to help the people out in the Emilia-Romagna region on a personal or team level. Yuki Tsunoda and AlphaTauri were amongst the first responders as the Japanese driver along with his crew took to the street of Faenza and cleared up debris in the aftermath of the floods. 

Ferrari donated an amount upwards of $1 million dollars to the Emilia-Romagna Region’s Agency for Territorial Safety and Civil Protection. F1 wasn’t one to stay behind as they also donated more than $1 million with concern for the ones suffering shown by Stefano Domenicali. Max Verstappen held an online stream whose collections were also donated.
