When this season began, people were surprised to see Esteban Ocon outperform his much more experienced teammate, Fernando Alonso. Unfortunately, the former has dropped his form in terms of performance in recent races. However, Alonso is confident that Ocon will bounce back and redeem himself in the upcoming weekends.
The two-time world champion thinks that the Frenchman is just having one of those days, comparing him to Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel who are also going through a rough patch this season.

Speaking to GrandPrix.News, Alonso said, “I am more happy and comfortable now. But I don’t know if it has coincided with him (Ocon) being more uncomfortable or it is a natural progression for everyone.
“You have to remember that it is Tsunoda’s first year, Ricciardo comes and goes in terms of performance, then there’s Vettel. I don’t know what is happening with Esteban either, but I’m sure he will be super competitive again soon,” Alonso concluded.

Ocon left scratching his head after the doubleheader at the Red Bull Ring
The 24-year-old didn’t have the best of weekends in Austria, as he finished in seventh place in both the races. However, he seems to be optimistic for the British Grand Prix and aims to bounce back and bag some crucial points for the Enstone-based team.
Ocon said, “This week I am meeting with the team to assess how many parts we can change before we get back on track.”

Talking about the possibility, he said, “The more we can change, the better. Because then there will be less doubts. It is unacceptable to be a second slower than Alonso on such a small track.
“There is definitely something that did not work properly and we have to understand it,” he concluded.
