The 2022 season has begun with a great race in Bahrain, where Ferrari managed to pick up their first one-two in 46 races. But aside from the thrilling races ahead, there are rumors surrounding new F1 teams applying to join the grid.

It is not unknown to F1 fans that Michael Andretti, the son of Mario Andretti, has tried so many times to have his own team in Formula One. He even tried to buy the majority of shares of Alfa Romeo. But the deal failed and since then Andretti has been pursuing FIA to enter the F1 grid with his own team, “Andretti Global”.

However, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali revealed that they are not going to allow applicants to join motorsport that easily. Only some big names who have major importance in motorsports like Porsche and Audi would be accepted with open arms. Domenicali also revealed that recently he has received many more applicants to join the grid other than Andretti.

The F1 CEO shared, “There are those who have been very explicit in airing their request, such as Andretti, and others who prefer to remain silent. Let’s say more than one and less than eight.”

“From our point of view, more teams do not imply a greater show on the track, unless they are from important entities,” Domenicali continued.
