Aston Martin F1 Reveal Key Reason Behind Vettel’s Pace Deficit to Stroll

Given that it is a motor sport, it is extremely vital for a driver to understand their vehicle through and through in F1. They need to extract the most out of the car to get the results they need, and that cannot happen unless the driver knows the car. And while Sebastian Vettel isn’t showing results yet, his team boss Otmar Szafnauer believes the German has finally gotten used to the new machinery.
Unfortunately, Vettel has taken quite some time to figure out his new car – if Szafnauer’s words are to be believed, that is.
In the two races that have happened so far, he has failed to score any points. He was awarded two penalties in the first one and was forced to retire in the second one, owing to gearbox issues.

Szafnauer suggest Sebastian Vettel still needs to sync in with the car
At the Emilia GP press conference, the Aston Martin boss said, “He’s driven different powertrains, so a little bit with driveability but I think we’re on top of that now. Just overall car feel and balance.
“Lance has driven our car for a few seasons now and he knows exactly what to expect and the way the car behaves is much different than what Seb has been used to, but he’s getting on top of it,” Otmar concluded.

As quoted by PlanetF1, Vettel said, “I think Portimão is a good place to aim for a clean weekend. The circuit is a high-speed autodrome; very smooth, and with plenty of gradient. It’s fun to drive, and I think it’ll be a good place to get a better handle on the limits of the AMR21.
“I know I’m yet to get the maximum from the car but the fact that we understand that is another good reason to keep pushing,” Sebastian explained.
