4-time world champion Sebastian Vettel will race his last in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. As the curtains fall on the German’s illustrious career, drivers from all teams are paying their heartfelt tributes. His former Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc too had some kind words for him with a special accompanying gesture.

Charles Leclerc joined Ferrari in 2019 when Vettel had already completed 4 years with the team. The Monegasque maintains he has learned a lot from his former teammate and the values he has got that will stay with him forever. The Ferrari driver also revealed how Seb once taught him the value of little things that he used to ignore.

Reacting to Sebastian Vettel’s retirement announcement 3 months back, Leclerc said, “Our relationship is very strong and he’s just a super nice guy. Just wish him the best and as I told him before, I will always have one or two passes if he wants to come to a race because I will be very happy to see him in the paddock still next year.”

Leclerc is not the only teammate to have benefitted from Sebastian’s friendship. Daniel Ricciardo, who shared the Red Bull garage with Vettel too had some heartfelt words for his former teammate.

Daniel Ricciardo recalls the times spent with Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel was joined by Daniel Ricciardo at Red Bull in 2014. Vettel was coming off of a record-breaking 2013 season. Displaying a dominant racing prowess, Vettel set the record for most consecutive race wins in a season (9). The record stands to date. The following year, however, Ricciardo trumped him.

Speaking with Maxim in May this year, the Honey Badger revealed, “I really enjoyed my year with Vettel in 2014. This was a four-time world champion who I was able to just observe. He had a way of getting what he wanted or getting a point across, which was sometimes intense or robust, but it was respected and taken on.”
