The long wait for Netflix’s Drive to Survive is over as Netflix has released the 4th installment of the much-anticipated show. Fans were eager to witness all of the 2021 season’s drama unfold once again. As of now, the wait is over and fans can get some huge insights into the events of last year through the documentary.

Unsurprisingly, the very first episode presents the rivalry between Red Bull and Mercedes. Interestingly, Bahrain Motor Federation’s President, Shaikh Abdulla Bin Isa Al – Khalifa, also makes an appearance in the show.

How did Bahrain Motor Federation’s President contribute to the series?

As the teams prepared for the first race of the season in Bahrain, experts believed Mercedes had a fight on their hands with Red Bull. In the first episode of the series, Red Bull Boss, Christian Horner, is shown having a conversation with Bahrain Motor Federation’s President, President, Shaikh Abdulla Bin Isa Al – Khalifa.

Al – Khalifa wishes luck and proceeds to say, “Come on, kick their a**”. Horner is immediately seen trying to change the topic. He conveys, “You’ve wintered well by the looks of things”.

However, Al – Khalifa repeats, “Kick their a** today, please.” The Bahrain Motor Federation’s President clearly wanted Red Bull to win their battle against Mercedes.

In the end, Lewis Hamilton won the Grand Prix with Max Verstappen finishing a close second. However, the Dutchman pipped Hamilton to win the World Championship on the last day of the season.

Verstappen’s Stance on Drive to Survive

Max Verstappen was visibly against the dramatization of Netflix’s Drive to Survive. As a result, he did not take part in any interviews, even though his rivalry with Hamilton is the main storyline in the series.

He said, “No, I won’t change my mind. I think that was already ruined after season one”. He also admitted that he did not like the portrayal of rivalries in the series.

However, the Dutch driver also recognized that it attracted interest from all over the world because of the drama and action among the teams. Moreover, he revealed that he will watch the series to see how the drama unfolds from a TV Series’ perspective.

He added, “It’s just not my thing, and I’ll probably watch it and see how nicely over the top it is. We’ll just continue with my life and I’ll probably watch some other documentaries on Netflix.”
