Sebastian Vettel said that everyone is a Ferrari fan even if they are not. But do you recall how Vettel and Alonso spent multiple years during their prime at Ferrari? Yet they were not able to win a championship with them. Charles Leclerc has already been at Ferrari for over 4 years now without any success at the title. As the news of him getting closer to signing an extension after a high-profile meeting in Maranello came out, fans pleaded the 25-year-old to reject the offer. Why did the fans say so and what exactly did they mean?

Rumors of Charles Leclerc leaving Ferrari have been going around the paddock for a while. Last year Ferrari messed up with the strategies and reliability issues which prevented the Monegasque from challenging for the title as he dropped after an excellent start to the season. This year was expected to be the redemption year but Ferrari is nowhere near the pace of Red Bull and even behind the likes of Aston Martin in the long run pace.

Formu1a.uno suggests that Ferrari President Elkann was in Maranello for a few days. Amongst many other things, Charles Leclerc’s contract was a point of discussion. It is believed that the contract extension talks are advancing as Leclerc’s current contract ends next year. However, some doubts still linger over the deal despite Monegasque’s explanation of how he dreams of winning the championship with Ferrari.

Doubts still remain over Ferrari’s ability to catch the Red Bull. Laurent Mekies, Ferrari’s assistant TP and race director is set to leave the team for Alpha Tauri soon as Franz Tost announced his retirement. Nevertheless, according to a Tweet posted by @formularacers_, the team has guaranteed to make a push and sign high-profile figures from the competitors.

As the news of Charles Leclerc getting close to an extension got out, fans took over the social media platforms as they pleaded with Leclerc to not sign another deal with Ferrari as he has already suffered a lot during this 5-year contract with the team. Let’s see what the fans think.

Fans react to Charles Leclerc getting closer to signing an extension with Ferrari

Fans took to Twitter to express their concern regarding the possible extension as they pleaded with Monegasque not to make the mistake of signing with the Red team. Many suggested that they don’t see this extension going in the favor of Leclerc and called it the dumbest move of his life. Some compared Leclerc to Harry Kane as he might be great at what he does, but will never be able to achieve the ultimate dream, i.e. the championship. Here’s how the fans reacted on Twitter:

Some suggested that he did not learn anything from Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, who wasted their prime at Ferrari and did not win a single title with them. Others suggested that there are other teams out there wanting to sign him.
