Fernando Alonso: Revised Imola F1 Track ‘Has Improved Racing’

The track at Imola will have some changes done for the upcoming Grand Prix, particularly to the DRS zone. Fernando Alonso is keen on racing there and thinks the modifications will be an improvement.
The two-time world champion didn’t get the return he was hoping for in 2021. The Spaniard only managed to put in 32 laps around the Bahrain circuit before being forced to retire the car due to brake issues.
Now, Alonso looks forward to the second round of the championship that takes place at Imola. He hopes to do better and score his first points for the French team.

Fernando Alonso believes the changes at Imola will improve racing
The changes will be done to DRS zones to the track, it will be longer than one of 2020. As quoted by RaceFans, Alonso said, “I do like the Imola racetrack and I was glad to see it return to Formula 1 last year. It threw up an exciting race in 2020 and I think some of the changes to the circuit since I raced here over ten years ago has improved the racing.”

In the post-race interview, Alonso said, “We had some brake issues at the end that stopped us seeing the chequered flag.Apparently some debris came into the brake duct, which is a little bit unfortunate.”
“But I think the race was fun until that point. The start, the first couple of laps, some battles with my old colleagues and I did enjoy it. But obviously now you’re disappointed not to see the chequered flag.”

“I think we still need to improve. I think it’s very close in the midfield; a couple of tenths changes a lot of positions, so we will have to fine-tune things and execute [well] to perfect every race,” Alonso concluded.
Alpine hopes that they can deliver a better result when they race in Imola for the upcoming Grand Prix. Having two talented drivers in Alonso & Ocon, they remain optimistic for the season ahead.
