Esteban Ocon on Lewis Hamilton
Esteban Ocon spent the whole of 2019 on the sidelines. The Frenchman lost his seat at Force India after 2018 and spent most of his time with Mercedes as a reserve driver in 2019. While performing simulator work for the German team, Ocon had the opportunity to experience the workings of a Championship winning team. This also included interacting with the reigning World Champion Lewis Hamilton.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ocon revealed what he picked up from Lewis Hamilton during his time at Mercedes.
“What did I learn from Hamilton? More than watching telemetry, I learned from man: he is a guy with intense life and the one he pours out on the track makes an impression because he is always 100%”
“I have learned a lot, being in a team that has won for a long time, with that incredible organization, leaves something, I feel more complete and I can bring something to Renault”
Ocon’s F1 comeback is truly special as many believed the Frenchman’s career in F1 was all but over after 2018. Unfortunately, the 23-year-old hasn’t been able to show his true form after a year off due to Coronavirus. Nevertheless, Ocon will be carrying over some of the work ethic he picked up at Mercedes.
