Max Verstappen has started the season strong. While he endured a frustrating start to the season with 2 DNFs in the first three races, the reigning champion has bounced back in a great fashion. He has won three races on a trot and as a result, he is on top of the drivers’ standings.

However, Ferrari and Charles Leclerc are right on his tail and his Monaco GP’s qualifying result did not do him any favors. The Dutchman struggled to match the Monegasque throughout the qualifying session and will only start P4 during the race.

On a track that is narrow and difficult to overtake, this is certainly not a good start to the Grand Prix for Verstappen. Although he struggled for pace, the Red Bull driver was on course to secure a strong finish in Q3 until the disaster struck.

His teammate, of all people, crashed into the barriers. Subsequently, the red flags were waved, and the session ended. After the session, Verstappen showed his frustrations and many believe he was wrong to show his anger at that stage.

Max Verstappen shows his disappointment after the qualifying

This is, of course, not the first time the Dutchman has shown his temper on an F1 track. His aggressive style is often frowned upon by many, but we have seen plenty of drivers in the past showing their frustration if things do not go their way.

As he made it into the garage after the qualifying, the 24-year-old threw his gloves off in resentment. His reaction on the radio after Perez crashed also revealed his exasperation. He said, “No way, *******. Ok, this is typical Monaco, isn’t it?”

The reigning champion was on his way to improve his lap time and so his temper got the better of him after the crash. Moreover, Leclerc is only 6 points behind him at the moment, and the Monegasque securing pole position is not ideal for Verstappen. The narrow streets and slow corners make it hard to overtake and any mistake could also cost him.

Twitter reacts to Verstappen’s angry reaction

F1 Twitter, of course, had their say about the moment. Some believe he went overboard by showing his anger and failed to respect his team.

Verstappen’s rivalry with Lewis Hamilton is very well known. And their fans are not very kind to each other as well. Red Bull fans believe the Dutchman’s reaction was valid and even sighted Hamilton throwing his steering wheel in the past after a crash as an example that drivers can get heated.
