A well-deserved World Sports Lifetime Achievement award by Laureus for Niki Lauda is the least one will expect. Especially for a legend of the sport like Niki. The former three-time world champion embodied the sport. And his enthusiasm for the sport screams from his actions.

Remembering him through his Laureus acceptance speech. We will never forget and hopefully, learn from the words of the Austrian legend.

Mercedes, pay attention to Niki Lauda!

Niki Lauda imparted the words of wisdom to us during his acceptance speech. Specifically, for the Laureus World Sports Award for Lifetime Achievement. During his speech, he said, “I’d like to dedicate this award to the losers. Because I tell you from my own experience, winning is one thing but out of losing I always learned more for the future. So I got stronger in losing.”

Take notes, Mercedes! Niki also worked as the non-executive chairman of Mercedes. He was monumental in negotiating the deal for signing Lewis Hamilton and essentially paved the way for Mercedes’s future.

We are all aware of Niki’s incredible accident and comeback story. And not giving up is the moral of the story! Nobody could’ve ever imagined a driver racing and competing for the world championship with half his face burned. But that is exactly what he did.

The never give up attitude is what now Mercedes needs to embody and push past the struggling start to the season.

Sport equals togetherness!

Speaking further in his speech, Niki also said“Our world today is not turning in the right direction. But sport I think should be the best ambassador for the future generation to get us closer together again.”

After a week’s break, we return to racing in Miami. And Mercedes will be hopeful about their car. And so are we and looking forward to big changes ahead of the race.
