Mercedes didn’t have an ideal start this season. The eight-time world champion constructors are not even near the teams at the front and even struggling to stay in the midfield. Red Bull advisor shares that their German rivals are no longer can make a miraculous comeback like in past seasons.

The Silver Arrows have been struggling with the car since the pre-season. They came up with questionable upgrades like “no sidepods” and aerodynamic side mirrors. However, these upgrades didn’t help the German constructor much.

Despite their pre-season troubles, fans expected them to bounce back with an improved car in the Bahrain race. However, that didn’t happen and the poor performance still haunted them, even in the Jeddah race.

The new rules and regulations, along with the new budget cap, hit the German giants hard. Like in the past seasons, they can’t spend huge resources to improve their performance. Helmut Marko stated, “The Mercedes teams are no longer used to the fact that they can no longer turn a button in terms of the engine and can immediately stage a party time.”

Christian Horner still expects a Mercedes comeback

It seems the Red Bull team principal is not on the same page as team advisor Helmut Marko. The Red Bull advisor claimed a comeback for Mercedes would be hard this season. Meanwhile, Christian Horner, the man who’s facing Mercedes over the past few seasons, still believes that the German F1 team is capable of a comeback.

The Red Bull team principal said, “I don’t feel anything about Mercedes being left behind. We are focused only on ourselves and we are in a very intense fight with Ferrari. I have no doubt that Mercedes will be involved in this fight at some point.”
