With Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, Red Bull has an incredible driver pairing. Formula 1 is a highly competitive sport. And most of the time, that competition is within the team itself. But Max and Sergio have maintained an incredible relationship on and off the track. And if history is any proof, it’s difficult to maintain such a relationship within a team.

However, Max and Sergio are setting goals for the other teams. Both drivers show mutual respect towards each other. And it’s a pleasant sight to see, considering how ugly things can get within a team.

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have developed a wonderful friendship

Sergio was incredibly supportive of Max’s endeavor to win the world championship in the previous season. We saw Sergio being helpful to Max during the races. And we all remember the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and the splendid job Sergio did holding up Hamilton, which was monumental later in the race. This goes to show the two work towards the collective goal and maintain a healthy relationship throughout.

Max and Sergio, during a pre-race interview, were presented with a question, “What have you learnt about each other since you’ve been teammates?” To which Sergio hilariously replied, “I know what I’ve learned a lot, to swear a lot more.” No one can disagree with Sergio if you’ve heard radio exchanges between the team and Max. Max, however, said, “I never swear, it’s just my language.” Of course Max!

And to clear any doubts, he added, “It sounds very wrong, but it’s okay”. The Red Bull men obviously maintain a very fun and healthy relationship, as witnessed.

The pair don’t see each other as competition more than any team pairing does. And that translates into a healthy racing relationship as well. After the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, we heard Sergio congratulating Max for his victory even after dropping four places.
