For as long as there are competitive sports and there are individuals competing against each other, there will always be a GOAT debate. Formula 1 also qualifies under these rules, however, the F1 GOAT debate is considerably the most difficult. Every year, the sport advances and becomes competitive and there are a lot of variables that come into play. This is exactly why comparing two eras separated by just eight years also has its challenges. This is exactly why we cannot even compare the more dominant era between Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel. However, despite the incomparable circumstances, Vettel couldn’t help but discuss the dominance of Verstappen.
Speaking to the media at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, as quoted by F1 Maximaal, Vettel talked about the incredible Max Verstappen. The German world champion also bowed down in front of Verstappen’s supremacy. Although Vettel could not compare the two eras because of three factors that he believes are the difference makers.
“The perfection, consistency, and quality the team delivers week in and week out is exceptional. So far they have won every race this season, which I couldn’t do in my dominant period,” said Vettel.

The Dutchman’s raw talent was evident from day 1 when he became the youngest driver in the history of the sport. As time has passed, the raw diamond has been polished into a racing machine. Now we all know what Red Bull’s most successful driver thinks about it. The other man who was there to witness it all is also drawing similar comparisons, especially after Verstappen showcased his inner Vettel at the Spanish GP.
When asked if Vettel gave Horner the same confidence as Verstappen is doing now, Horner expressed his honest opinion. Horner said, “It’s very similar. I mean different eras and difficult to compare but you know Max has just got this even when he loses a start you just know you know he’s gonna be right there.”
