Sainz was the latest personality to appear on the ‘In The Pink‘ podcast. Talking about his working routine he said, “I like the work I have, I like living in the UK. Monday to Fridays, I enjoy being around with the engineers, focusing a lot on my physical preparation. As soon as that’s done, I pick a flight and I go back to Madrid.”
“But always (go back to Madrid) with the homework done. That makes me feel more relaxed when I go back home, that I have done my work and I have worked harder than probably anyone out there.”

He also believes that his work ethic and commitment is better than that of other drivers. He said, “I don’t see many other drivers living near a factory, to be honest. I see them maybe living in Monaco, Los Angeles. For me personally, when I joined McLaren, I wanted to live near the factory. Just because I wanted to build a strong relationship with everyone, and I think it has paid off.”
Well, it certainly has paid off, considering he has got a move to Ferrari in 2021. However, his job at McLaren isn’t quite done yet. Sainz would want to back last season’s performances, with another strong season before he leaves for the Maranello-based outfit. He would want to win the ‘best of the rest’ title once again, and probably leave McLaren with a podium finish, which would not only boost his morale but would also serve as a parting gift for McLaren.
