Daniel Ricciardo has made some serious and career-defining decisions in the last three seasons. The former Red Bull man left the team for Renault, followed by a move to McLaren in 2021. However, before Ricciardo was making defining decisions, he was just an innocent kid in a school.

Although knowing Ricciardo, especially with his antics around the paddock, it wouldn’t be too hard to imagine him being naughty as well. This is exactly what Ricciardo proved from a story he shared in 2018. The then-Red Bull man recalled a story from his school days that broke his mother’s heart and earned him a suspension. The only black mark on his clean school record.

In the story Ricciardo recalled, he details an incident from the last year of his school. He narrated, “It was a younger girl, and we kind of always teased each other.” He added, “One day I was eating lunch, and she knocked me and knocked the lunch out of my hand and I was like this just got a bit too far now.”

Ricciardo then shared how he retaliated and said, “Once everyone went back to class after lunch, I had some super glue. I went to her locker and I super-glued her lock together. I may have scratched something in on her locker.”

The incident, however, earned Ricciardo a three-day suspension from school, which he did not mind. Ricciardo even defended his juvenile actions by hilariously pointing out, “I didn’t grow up for a while.”

However, the Australian admitted he was not proud of his actions. He pointed out that no matter how little an incident is, there are always consequences to actions and discussed bullying.

The McLaren man shared his thoughts on bullying as a concept and how he feels about it. He also admitted no matter how little or big the action, most kids don’t realize it at the time.

He said, “Any form of bullying, I think you understand it when you grow up. I have got a little nephew now and a lot of young little cousins. I would hate for them to go through school geting bullied.”
