After 8 years of pure dominance in F1, Mercedes finds itself in uncharted waters in the 2022 season. The team failed to set the benchmark this year with the W13 and has fallen behind in the pecking order. Thus, so far this season we have not heard the UK national anthem at the podium ceremony which became a habit for the F1 fans, courtesy of Lewis Hamilton.

The new rules and regulations in the 2022 season changed the way the aerodynamics of the F1 cars work. Henceforth, we witnessed the ‘porpoising issue’ being the thorn in the side of the Brit. The initial races pointed towards 2022, being a hard pill to swallow, but the driver inked with ‘Still I Rise’ showed why he is one of the best to ever race in the premier racing league.

He carried this strong momentum into the next race at Montreal, where he finished on the podium for the first time since Bahrain GP. As a result, it was a special one for him and he shared his feelings in an interview with his former teammate, Heikki Kovalainen.

“We’re now getting, I remember me and, like Montreal, getting fourth place qualifying. It was quite emotional, it was quite emotional, it was like wow, this, I remember how great it felt because I really struggled with the car and then getting our first podium, you know. Not our first podium but our next, our second podium of the year, and then a second, last week.”

“I mean I went home feeling like we really achieved something great and that’s a great feeling,” Hamilton commented.
