Max Verstappen may have won the US Grand Prix, but the fans got to witness the old rivalry once again. After a long time, Sebastian Vettel was leading the race, with Lewis Hamilton on his tail. Hamilton eventually overtook Vettel in the 41st lap of the race, only to eventually lose P1 to race winner Max Verstappen. In his latest Instagram post, the 7-time world champion cherished the battle with Sebastian Vettel, and not Verstappen.

Despite there being no rain, the US GP delivered on the excitement factor. With crashes and some slow pit stops, things got exciting at COTA as the veterans of the sport battled it out in the front of the grid. Mercedes brought in some changes to the car and they seemed to have paid off.

Lewis Hamilton enjoyed the battle with Sebastian Vettel

Lewis Hamilton had an epic battle with Max Verstappen for P1 in the final laps of the US GP. The Briton gave his all to resist the pressure from the Dutchman, but couldn’t do much about it when the champion driver came with full force in the 50th lap.

Hamilton tried to gain the place back with the only switcheroo twice, but could not make the move stick. Despite this enthralling battle, the 7-time world champion loved the battle with old nemesis Sebastian Vettel.

In his latest Instagram post, Hamilton wrote, “Always fun to battle @sebastianvettel – let’s keep this momentum going for Mexico, see you all next week.”

After being overtaken by Hamilton in the 41st lap, Vettel had a horrible pit stop. The German stood stationary in the pit box for 16.8 seconds. He, however, recovered well and took P7 at the end of the race and was voted Driver of the Day by fans.

Mercedes brought in some changes to the car and they paid off. Hamilton thanked his team for their effort. “P2! Some tough racing out there, it wasn’t easy but we are taking away a good result. Thank you to the team for all the hard work this weekend. Strategy, pit stops, all of it was on point. This outcome is a huge boost for us all, and we are ultimately leaving with some valuable learnings for next year.”
