Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen had an intense battle in the 2021 season for the championship. The championship was decided in the last race of the season in a controversial manner which favored the Dutchman to lift the world title. However, it wasn’t only the last race of the season that kept the fans on the edge of their seat. Things got a bit heated between the two title rivals quite a few times during the last season.

Despite all that, the Mercedes driver mentioned that currently, things are normal between the two. He revealed both drivers see each other in the paddock often, but there is no negativity between them.

Lewis Hamilton provides an update on his and Max’s relationship

As reported by Planetf1, the 7-time world champion mentioned that there are a lot of similarities between him and Max. Both drivers are aggressive on the track and straightforward off it. They both are passionate about racing and are very good at their jobs. “For me and Max, we’re seeing each other in the paddock. Things are normal. We are two individual drivers who have a lot in common in the sense of how much we love doing what we do, driving,” said Lewis.

But Hamilton mentioned that despite being normal off the track, they both are ruthless on it. Both drivers do not miss a single opportunity presented to them on the track and grab it with both hands each time.

“On the other side, we’re ruthless. He is ruthless, that’s how you have to be, I would imagine, in business, but hopefully with a bit of compassion. But we are fighters out there, there are no friends on the track,” The Briton added.

Watch This Story: F1 Drivers Fighting on Track

It is nice to see that after an intense battle last season, they both still have respect for each other. Both drivers are two of the best on the grid and it would be a shame to see them have a bad relationship off the track. With the season opener right around the corner, it would be interesting to see if the 2 titles continue to clash or would there be new teams and drivers in the championship fight.
