Daniel Ricciardo is certainly one of the most entertaining people in the paddock currently. His jolly persona and friendly attitude make him a very likable driver. He is a fan favorite in Formula 1. That might be one of the reasons why the recent announcement from McLaren and the Australian did not go down well with Danny Ric fans.

In a statement released by McLaren on Twitter, the Woking-based team said, “McLaren Racing and Daniel Ricciardo have mutually agreed that Daniel will leave the team at the end of the 2022 season. The team thanks Daniel for his dedication and contribution, including that memorable win in Monza. We look forward to finishing the season strongly together.”

With all the drama conversing around McLaren, Alpine, and Oscar Piastri, it seems like the Australian driver was the unfortunate victim of the fiasco. The former Red Bull driver also shared a video on his Twitter confirming the news.

The news caused outrage among Ricciardo fans on F1 Twitter. They were quick to share their opinions as they dealt with this shocking announcement. Furthermore, they poured their love and support for the Honey Badger.

 

Some fans were also worried this might be the last season of Daniel Ricciardo in Formula 1.

McLaren has not yet announced who is going to replace Daniel next year. Although, many suggest Ricciardo’s compatriot Oscar Piastri is the front runner to fill the empty seat for the Zak Brown-owned constructors. Piastri has been a hot prospect for a long time now.

Daniel Ricciardo’s McLaren spell might not have gone as well as he would have imagined it. However, he still managed to win at Monza last year and get his McLaren a 1-2 result for the first time since 2010.

Back in his Red Bull days, Daniel Ricciardo also won the miraculous 2018 race in Monaco and termed it “Redemption” after being robbed of a victory in 2016.
