Many people assume Max Verstappen to be hot-headed. His on-track incidents such as his bust-up with Esteban Ocon and radio conversations with his team might make you believe you so as well. However, the Dutchman, who won an extraordinary 15 races this season feels otherwise.
In a recent interview, the Dutch Lion explained what kind of personality he carries. Furthermore, he also questions a popular F1 opinion about himself.

Max Verstappen is a known perfectionist. And when things don’t go their way, they can be ruthless. In a recent interview with the New York Times, the Red Bull driver was asked to describe his personality. He gave a surprising answer about himself, which not many people might agree with.
As reported by GP Fans, Verstappen said, “People might think differently, but I’m actually quite calm. I don’t really get upset with many things. It just doesn’t bother me. I know what I have to do here [in F1], and that’s trying to drive as fast as I can on track.”

He also added, “When I go home, I also want to do other things, but it doesn’t take a lot of energy for me to keep switching between the two, because I do find what I do is super important but it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t really work out.”
Red Bull and Verstappen had a near-perfect season this year and Verstappen credits much of his success to his team for designing the best car.

Speaking to the New York Times, Verstappen mentioned, “At the end of the day, it’s all about who designs the best car, who comes up with the more clever ideas.”
The Dutchman then added, “At the start of the season, it was all a big question mark for everyone as to where were you going to be. We had a rough start, but after that, we did very little wrong.”
