The McLaren driver Lando Norris is one of the most famous young talents in Formula One. As the 22-year-old is becoming increasingly popular day by day, he recently shared the reason behind his quickly growing fanbase compared to the senior drivers.

It was during the coronavirus pandemic that the Briton found a new interest for himself. Norris started live streaming video games on Twitch alongside young drivers like George Russell, Charles Leclerc, and Alex Albon. He later also started a YouTube channel where he uploads the clips from his Twitch live stream.

The McLaren driver believes that streaming games online helps them get closer to the fans, which the senior drivers might never be able to do. He further explains that because his generation is more exposed to the internet from an early age, they are more comfortable being public.

“I don’t think you would necessarily see the older generation doing this kind of thing,” said Norris. “I think we’re more open to being seen publicly and giving fans that kind of experience.”

“It’s something we’ve grown up doing a little bit more,” the young English driver continues. Even after so much popularity and millions of followers, the English young man still doesn’t feel popular. The McLaren star shared, “I’m still at the stage where I’m not too popular.”

What lies ahead of Lando Norris?

The pre-season testing is over and Lando Norris again showcased his phenomenal driving skills at Barcelona and Bahrain. However, the young Brit failed to stand out much at the testing session. Now he is back at Woking and gearing up for the upcoming first race.

Norris had a phenomenal season last year, getting podium finishes and bagging points for his team. He eventually finished the 2021 season at sixth place with 160 points; whereas, his team finished fourth on the constructor’s table. Because of Lando’s excellent performance, McLaren extended the contract with Norris, which is valid until 2025.
