Since Mattia Binotto tendered his resignation from the team principal job at Ferrari, Alfa Romeo’s Frederic Vasseur was being touted to replace him. Before Ferrari could announce Vasseur’s arrival, Jost Capito resigned from Williams. Soon came the news of Vasseur joining Ferrari, followed by McLaren TP Andreas Seidl’s resignation. Buxton told, “I’ll probably have to go in again and talk about that because we literally just finished doing our last interview session of the season. And I came out of the room and it was like ‘phone’s back on- oh by the way, Jost Capito has left Williams and he has taken FX Demaison with him’. And it’s all kicking off and then the next morning Fred’s [Vasseur] gone to Ferrari, bloody [Andreas] Seidl’s left McLaren and you’re like, ‘this is nuts!’.”

He continued, “they might have to biff off an episode about something else and then pull this in. Because this is huge, like it’s massive.”

F1 fans eagerly wait for Drive to Survive’s release after the conclusion of the F1 season. While they witness the races in real-time, the docu-series gives behind-the-scenes coverage. As per Motorsport-Total, Netflix paid F1 a hefty sum of $5 million for the first season. Whether that sum has changed over the years is not known.

What to expect in the Formula 1: Drive to Survive season 5

2022 was a crazy year for Formula 1. Mercedes’ dominance was finally broken by Red Bull as they won both championships courtesy of Max Verstappen. The partnership broke several records as the season progressed. However, there was the infamous falling out between Verstappen and Sergio Perez in Brazil. Fans will be eager to know what went on away from the track between the duo.

Then there was a long transfer list of drivers with three rookie drivers (Logan Sargeant, Oscar Piastri, and Nyck de Vries) set to join the grid next year.
