Nothing can come close to the banter between two old friends no matter what stage of life they’re in, and F1 drivers aren’t an exception. For example, Mick Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel. The two are at completely different spectrums of their careers, however, both have a strong relationship. These two are just one example of many such relationships in the F1 ecosystem. We witnessed something similar during this year’s build-up to the Race of Champions (ROC).
For the unaware, ROC is an international motorsport event. It is the only competition that features F1, World Rally Championship, IndyCar, NASCAR, Sportscars, and touring car drivers going head-to-head.
Former McLaren teammates David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen both racing in the competition traveled to Sweden for this year’s edition. The two were at McLaren for six years from 1996 to 2001, and they created an unbreakable bond. This is why a video shared by the ROC Twitter page is comedic gold.

The duo had the fans in splits with their unfiltered banter in said video. Hakkinen, as soon as he got out of the car, said, “Hello good evening. Where is the sunshine?”
Later in the video when the Finn was talking about his experience last year, Coulthard interrupted his former teammate and pulled his leg. He said, “Is he still f**king talking? He talks and he talks. It’s a clip. They want 30 seconds, not your life story.”

The two were part of McLaren’s golden generation. Despite being fierce competitors, the two have maintained a healthy relationship and Twitter is loving it.
