The recent budget cap drama looming over the F1 world has been fueled further with controversies. As per the FIA, the spiraling rumors about the exploitation of the Budget Cap by Red Bull were proven to be accurate. The FIA earlier declared that Red Bull was indeed guilty of a ‘minor breach’ for the $145M budget cap for 2021.

The decision regarding the penalties was to be discussed and announced during the weekend in Austin at the US Grand Prix. However, with the news of Dietrich Mateschitz passing away, the decision was postponed.

The decision is expected to be officially announced soon. With all this, the Dutch Lion is confident that the team will tackle this head-on. In a recent interview, the reigning world champion shared his thoughts on the subject.

With Red Bull winning the constructors’ title this season and retaining the Drivers championship, other teams claim they have had an unfair advantage. To this, talking to Motosport-Total.com, the Dutch Lion said, “They are sore anyway so it doesn’t matter what they say or what you do. I can [brush it off].

“Probably they can’t and they will never be able to so that’s a problem for them to deal with.”

Considering Mercedes was one of the teams that demanded justice against Red Bull’s cost cap breach, these words surely seem like a dig on them.

F1 teams urge FIA to take strict action against Red Bull

As the Budget Cost cap reports suggested Red Bull’s breach, the teams have rather been unsettled. There are claims that Red Bull’s unfair advantage has largely contributed to their wins. Exceeding the standard budget gave them an upper hand in having a better car whilst the others struggled.

The teams have come together and accused the Milton Keynes-based outfit of ‘cheating’. They have written an open letter to the FIA to bring to their notice the repercussions of unfair competition. Furthermore, they urge the FIA to come up with a fitting penalty. They believe that Red Bull must now be on the receiving end of a harsh reality.
