This season is currently the 7th campaign that Sergio Perez has staged with Racing Point (previously knows as Force India). Despite, prior to this season, the team never having been a podium finisher, they were always a solid midfield team and their results weren’t too shabby.
However, 2020 has been a totally different ball game for the Silverstone-based outfit. Racing Point’s RP20 is among the front runners to be called the second-best car on the grid.
They look poised to bag a number of podium finishes throughout the season. And in an experienced and talented driver like Perez, they’ll certainly be aiming for just that.

However, Perez’s future with the team for 2021 looks rather uncertain thanks to Sebastian Vettel. The 4-time World Champion is currently uncontracted and rumored to be on Racing Point’s wishlist for the next season.
Nonetheless, in a bit of reassurance for Checo, Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer thinks that the Mexican’s loyalty to the team gives him an advantage over Vettel.

In conversation with Motorsport.com, Szafnauer said, “I think the fact that he has got a signed contract will be a key factor that means we keep him. But I know what you’re asking, and Sergio has been loyal to us.
“He’s been here for a long time. He’s a great racer, works well with the team and he works well with Lance (Stroll) and he helps Lance, so I’m sure all those factors do matter.”

Nevertheless, it’s likely that if Vettel were to move to the team, it would be at the cost of Perez. Thus, the Mexican is under no illusions and is reportedly already scouting for potential seats in 2021.
Rumors link the Mexican to Alfa Romeo as Kimi Raikkonen’s replacement.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Checo and Racing Point. Will he be pushed out for Vettel? Could Perez leave F1 if he doesn’t find a competitive seat? Who knows?
