Once you’re in F1, getting used to life without Formula 1 is a tough thing to do. However, for Red Bull reserve driver, Daniel Ricciardo, this is something he has to do. The Honey Badger has to at least bear a year on the sidelines as he plots to make his comeback to the sport. But even though the 33-year-old is not a regular paddock visitor currently, he still has many friends within it. One of them being 7x champion, Lewis Hamilton, and Ricciardo needed him the most recently.

The Australian racing ace was invited to the prestigious Met Gala. And the Honey Badger rocked up there in style. As per Vogue, Ricciardo “cut a dashing figure in his custom Thom Browne suit, done up in a black grosgrain ribbon tweed inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s tenure at Chane.” But before he ran the red carpet, the Met newbie went around to his friends asking for advice.

In a video released by Vogue, Ricciardo revealed he did reach out to a few ‘friends’ who attended the gala in the past. One can only imagine he was referring to Hamilton who has a habit of such swanky antics. He said, “I tried to reach out to a few people who I know had been before, and look, that gave me a lot of, I think a lot of comfort as well because of all their experiences.”

“They spoke so positively about it and they said, ‘Mate, you’re gonna have like a blast. You’re going to meet so many new people, you’ll make friends'”

This may have been Ricciardo’s very first Met Gala appearance, however, he did turn some heads.

At the Met Gala, you are sure to bump into some Hollywood royalty. And while Ricciardo was waiting for his photo shoot at the event, he came face-to-face with actress Anne Hathaway. And safe to say, a few sparks flew!

According to the Daily Mail, “The F1 star appeared to be solo at the event, wearing a black suit, bow tie and his trademark smile. But eagle-eyed fans spotted the 33-year-old taking a quick glance at Hollywood A-lister Anne Hathaway as he awaited his picture in New York City.”

“Yet Hathaway was also starstruck as the pair shared a brief exchange before parting ways. ‘It’s nice to meet you,’ she said to Ricciardo. ‘Wow, I’m a huge F1 fan.'”
