Lando Norris’ P2 at Hungarian GP was saved by the lapped traffic. Sergio Perez lost a lot of time and the medium just couldn’t hold on for long enough. Yet P3 was enough for Perez to get the coveted Honor. Lando Norris, on the other hand, didn’t seem to be happy about Checo getting the honor as he threw shade at McLaren for the same. What did Lando Norris say?
Lando Norris and Mclaren surprised the whole F1 field with their new upgrades, arguably becoming the second-best team. It was Lando Norris, Max Verstappen, and Lewis Hamilton who were fighting for the Hungaroring pole. While Norris wasn’t able to get the pole, he still managed to grab P2 in the race, fending off Sergio Perez’s attack in the final laps. Yet Lando Norris was surprised after realizing that Checo beat him to a coveted honor.

Sergio Perez started P9 and finished the Hungarian GP on the podium, showing incredible pace in the race, getting the driver of the day. However, Lando Norris was shocked to hear that Checo was the one who got it as he threw shade at McLaren, asking them for a faster car. According to the video uploaded by @safeforlando, Lando Norris said “He [Sergio Perez] got driver of the day? What the hell! I need a quicker car.”
Despite having made great progress, Lando Norris believes that McLaren still has a long way to go. Going along the same line, during the post-race interview, Norris suggested that Mercedes had a great pace during the race and that Lewis Hamilton might have beaten him.

Lewis Hamilton took the pole at the Hungarian GP and had it not been for the bad start, could’ve very well been on the podium. During the final part of the race, Hamilton’s W14 came alive and finished just behind Perez, who was in P3. Norris suggests that had Hamilton gotten a better start, he could’ve probably beaten him and finished on the podium.
According to FIA.com, Lando Norris during the post-race interview said, “Mercedes are way, way better than we are. Always have been. Mercedes has always been very, very strong with tire deg. If you look at yesterday, the Mercedes was quite a bit quicker with Lewis, so I’m going to be the guy that says, no. And I believe that Mercedes are very close, but it’s tight. I think like I said, if Lewis stayed ahead in Turn 2 they would have beaten us today and I probably wouldn’t be on the podium at all.”
