Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen’s iconic rivalry will be talked about for years to come. The drama that unfolded in the Abu Dhabi GP last year was a heartbreak for the Mercedes driver and his fans. Meanwhile, it was nothing short of a miracle for Max and his fans. Regardless of the events, both drivers have been subject to some undeserving comments on social media.

Now, Toto Wolff has lashed out at social media trolls and expects people to treat his Lewis Hamilton with dignity this weekend. The intense title fight last year resulted in both Max and Lewis being targeted by hateful comments on social media.

Toto said“These are cowards, who hide behind an anonymous account. Of course someone can get emotional, but these kind of people never dare to say it to your face. They are at home with their laptops on their chests, and God knows what they did five minutes before that…” (translated using Google translate)

The Austrian also added that he still cannot fathom the events that transpired last year at the final lap in the Abu Dhabi GP. He didn’t blame Max Verstappen or Red Bull and gave them the credit they deserved. He commented, “But that is separate from Max and Red Bull, because they had no influence on the decisions taken. Max is a deserved world champion.”

Sir Lewis was all praises regarding their rivals Red Bull and the car they built this season. He said“You’ve got to take your hat off to Red Bull they’ve done a phenomenal job. They had a great car last year as well. If you look at Adrian Newey he doesn’t generally build bad cars. He’s built amazing cars over the years.”

He added that Red Bull had done a great job with their aero balancing, and ride quality. Hamilton’s comments definitely came as a surprise given the fiery history between the two constructors. This maybe a sign that Lewis possibly asked Toto to sign Adrian Newey to build his car next year.
