Including the upcoming Japanese GP, there are only five races to go in the current Formula 1 season. Although, Lewis Hamilton, who has registered a race win in each of the past 15 seasons, is yet to do so. But as things stand, the Brit is focusing on the positives instead of the negative of this winless run.

The Mercedes man and his car have really struggled during the current 2022 season. The revised regulations also played a significant part. However, ahead of the Singapore GP, revealed his perception of the difficulties and winless run of this season.

Speaking to the media, Hamilton said, “I don’t look at it as a dry spell. I look at it as a bit of adversity and I think that’s where you really gain strength.” Those are some wise words from the most decorated and one of the most experienced drivers on the grid.

“I think we’ve gained a lot of strength and depth. When you’re winning all the time, it’s a wonderful thing. But you don’t gain a lot when you win constantly,” Hamilton added.

Looking within, realizing, and owning up to your mistakes takes a lot of strength. Mercedes has showcased that strength by admitting they went wrong with the W13.

However, the Brackley-based outfit is on the current path. The team has made constant improvements and is trying to close the gap with front leaders Red Bull and Ferrari. Red Bull might be out of grasp, but even Hamilton admitted the team’s sights are set on catching Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton admits finishing second will be huge for the team

Before Mercedes and Hamilton start worrying about the next season, they still have a task at hand. The task of finishing second in the constructors’ championship and beating Ferrari before the last race.

Hamilton admitted, “Our goal is to get second for the team because that does make a huge impact for everyone back at the factory. So these next six races is just about maximum attack, nothing to lose. You know, we’re just going to give hell.”
