With his impressive performance over the past three decades, Phil Mickelson today stands at a staggering net worth of $300 million. The California-born player uses his hefty net worth to manage his larger-than-life lifestyle. However, on the other hand, he also makes sure to use his money in the noblest and most generous ways.

Over the years, Mickelson has often been in the spotlight for his giving personality. The biggest examples are his $500 donation to the Jackson State University, and joining hands with other elite golfers for a $10 million donation for COVID-19 relief. However, going back in time to 2015, it was his tip at a lemonade stall that lead the list of his generous giving.

Phil Mickelson gives a $100 tip to a brother-sister pair

The year 2015 was a decent one for Mickelson. Even though he failed to win a title that year, he managed to get a couple of 2nd and 3rd position finishes. In June 2015, he suffered a major disappointment, finishing T65 at the Memorial Tournament. Following his loss, he slipped into his car, only to stop by a lemonade stall being run by a young brother-sister pair.

Disturbed by his T65 finish, he opted to try the lemonade as his way to recover from the disheartening result. Finishing his glass, he slipped back into the car, leaving the brother-sister duo with a $100 tip. The tip may have been a negligible amount for a $300 million net worth, Mickelson. However, it was enough of a reason for the children to celebrate.

Following the incident, the children indulged in a conversation with a media house. During the conversation, the children, in complete elation, recalled the meeting.

“All we were doing was sitting here, and then all we saw was this white car drive up,” they elucidated. “He just opened the door and said can we have a glass of lemonade? Then all it took was one little thing for him to give us a good tip ($100).”

The $100 was clearly the biggest tip for the pair trying to sell lemonade outside the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. Asked about what would they use the money for? The sister said, “save it for Kindle.” However, the brother had a different plan. “I think I’m saving up for a nerf gun,” he said.
