Steve Williams revealed how tough it was to caddie for Greg Norman

Before stepping into the business world, Norman played professional golf for decades. And notably, he has had a remarkable career during his prime years. However, a player’s success doesn’t entirely depend on his own skillset. During a tournament, a caddie also plays a very essential role in helping the player make decisions mid-game.

The LIV Golf CEO has worked with numerous caddies during his career. However, one of the most well-known people to have held his bag was Steve Williams. Despite achieving all his fame majorly due to working with Tiger Woods, Williams had great respect for all the players he worked with. And he was once in an interview with Graham Bensinger where he talked about his experience while walking the field with Greg Norman.

During the conversation, Williams gave all the credit to the golf legend to have formed him as a caddie. However, despite all the experiences that he received, he believed Norman wasn’t the easiest golfer to deal with. “He’s a tough guy to caddie for,” Williams said. “Very demanding on the course…very hard on himself. It’s very difficult to explain how it works between a player and a caddie. It’s kind of an in-depth sort of thing.”

According to the caddie, who also wrote the bestseller, “Out of the Rough,” some players are easier to carry the bag for compared to others. But Norman was definitely not in the easy category. With a discipline like his, the golf star was always determined to win. Moreover, Norman once explained how he never played a game just for the sake of it. His goal before stepping onto the field was clear every time – to win the tournament! And it is obvious for such a passionate golfer to be a little hard to work with. However, despite all the disagreements and struggles, Williams and Norman shared a great bond on and off the field.
