The first LPGA major of the year is set to kick off at Carlton Woods near Houston, with the event being headlined by Lydia Ko, Jin Young Ko, Nelly Korda, and more. World no. 2 Korda, who missed last year’s edition, is one of the favorites going into the 2023 Chevron Championship.

On Tuesday, a video of the Olympic gold medallist hitting a sensational shot left the golf world in awe. TaylorMade Golf’s official page shared the video on Twitter and has amassed thousands of views from golf enthusiasts.

World No. 2 Nelly Korda takes up an interesting challenge

The 24-year-old Korda is currently gearing up to compete at the 2023 Chevron Championship. The golfer has had an exciting year so far, finishing on T4 at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. She also had a T10 finish at the 2023 DIO Implant LA Open.

In January this year, the LPGA star also signed with TaylorMade Golf, one of the leading golf equipment manufacturing companies. With her multiyear signing, Korda joined a roster of golfing heavyweights including Tiger Woods, Collin Morikawa, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, and more. On Tuesday, @TaylorMadeGolf shared a video of the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship winner taking up an interesting golfing challenge.

When tasked with hitting a drive as low as she can, Korda delivered. “Pretty low. Call it a win,” said Korda after hitting a slick shot with her golf club.

This year, the Chevron Championship will be played at the Club at Carlton Woods in Texas. The previous 51 editions of the event were held at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California.

What is the prize purse of the 2023 Chevron Championship?

Top golfing stars like World no. 1 Lydia Ko, Nelly Korda, Brooke Henderson, Jin Young Ko, and more are set to return for the first LPGA major of the year. The 144-players field will also feature defending champion Jennifer Kupcho and 2022 runner-up Jessica Korda. The prize purse of this year’s edition has also witnessed a slight increase from last year.

42 of the top 50 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking will be going head to head at The Club at Carlton Woods, for a share of this year’s lucrative prize purse. The prize purse this year is $5.1 million, slightly more than last year’s $5 million purse.
