The inception of the LIV Golf Series has caused major problems for the existing golf bodies. The PGA Tour has been vocal in its criticism of the rebel league and showed its displeasure by suspending the membership of LIV defectors. But a year since the fiasco unfolded, golf influencer Paige Spiranac, believes the formation of LIV Golf has forced the PGA Tour towards amelioration.

What has caused LIV Golf’s poor TV rating?

The golf beauty was speaking in the latest episode of her podcast, ‘Playing a Round with Paige, where she held a Q&A session with her fans. Among the plethora of questions, Spiranac was asked about her views regarding LIV Golf’s poor TV rating at the Mayakoba event.

Her response? “Not surprised,” she said, before detailing how the lucrative league lost its charm after the initial phase. The LIV Golf Series managed to create unrest by poaching several of golf’s biggest stars, which angered fans.

Additionally, she was also critical of its television deal with the CW network. “I wish they were a little bit more creative with how they decided to maybe stream live,” she said on the podcast.

Paige Spiranac credits LIV Golf for PGA Tour reforms

But among the host of reasons for its continuing failure, Spiranac revealed the inception of the league made the PGA Tour take necessary action. “You know, I think that it has made the PGA Tour better. I think that the LIV verses PGA Tour controversy of last year has elevated the game for not only the players, but for the viewers,” she said.

Spiranac also mentioned some of the changes that have modified the landscape of the existing golf bodies in the past year. The PGA Tour has made ground-breaking amendments, including an increase in tournament purses, new elevated events, and high-tech formats to compete with the best in the world.

“There have been changes on the PGA Tour, as well as new ideas like the stadium tour with Tiger and Rory which I’m really excited about. So I think all in all it’s been really positive and you’re I don’t if you’re for it or against LIV… there have been so many positive changes and so you can’t hate on that,” she said.
