LIV Golf successfully grabbed some of the best players from the PGA Tour with its high-paying offers. And with the influence of legends like Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson, a whole group of other players also followed in their footsteps. However, one of the players who recently joined the Saudi circuit was Thomas Pieters. And he had a very interesting set of reasons to join the breakaway league.

Thomas Pieters comes clean about his decision to join LIV Golf

Pieters, 31, has made thousands of fans with his memorable performances on the PGA Tour. Despite not having won a single tournament in the American League, the golfer was able to make 37 cuts out of 49 events that he played. Although some golf fans might consider him a weak player compared to other professionals, LIV Golf certainly saw talent in the man!

According to sources, Pieters got a call from LIV Golf in February, and it was enough for the player to make his decision. The golfer claimed that he wanted to join the Saudi league since its debut last summer. However, the golfer is now officially part of the LIV Golf fraternity. And he is certainly very happy about it!

In an episode of the Fore Play Golf podcast, the Belgian professional explained the reasons behind joining LIV Golf. “LIV came around…at the right time,” he said. “It was very exciting, new and that was something that really spoke to me.” But that was not it! Similar to many other players, the golfer decided to be honest about the ‘financial’ side of joining the league too.

“You can’t lie about it financially,” he added. “It’s amazing. You know, and it was it’s something as a family, you know, father of two daughters, as well. With my girlfriend, it’s, it’s awesome to have such a good schedule as well.” Well, it certainly is a treat for players to be spending lesser time playing on the field and more time with their families. As per reports, the golfer signed a $10 million deal with LIV Golf. And compared to his seemingly falling career on the PGA Tour, he thinks he made the right decision.
