Almost two years ago, Phil Mickelson wrote history with his PGA Championship win on South Carolina’s Kiawah Island. He not only won his second Wanamaker trophy but also became the oldest player ever to win a major at the age of fifty years and eleven months.

After withdrawing from the event in 2022, Mickelson now returns to compete in the 105th edition of the highly-desired event. As he expressed in his one-word tweet on Thursday, the LIV golfer appears more than ready to take on the competitive field next week.

In 2022, Mickelson’s absence from the field at the PGA Championship made waves in the golf community, especially after his history-making 2021 win. His move to the Saudi-funded LIV Golf soon followed suit, landing him in hot water.

The golfer, however, successfully shut down his detractors with a sensational performance at last month’s Masters. The 52-year-old edged past many PGA Tour rivals to tie for second place along with LIV compatriot Brooks Koepka. Currently competing at LIV’s Tulsa tournament, Mickelson is definitely eyeing a third PGA Championship victory in the coming days.

Replying to a tweet wanting the golfer to go 190+ ballspeed at the coming major, Mickelson assuredly replied, “Same.” The LIV pro is a man of action, after all, as evidenced by his radical weight loss in recent times. He has shed a whopping 25 pounds in the past few months, owing to his hard work and strict regimen.

The PGA Tour defector is a part of the 48-player field of LIV’s ongoing event, which is being held at Tulsa’s Cedar Ridge Golf Club. After the event draws to an end, Mickelson will be heading to New York to try to reclaim his PGA Championship throne.
