When thinking about the best golfers in the world, Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus are the first two names that come to mind. However, there are several other players who have done wonders in the sport. And British professional golfer, Ted Ray, can be counted among such talented players. But despite all his records, his name still won’t make it to the World Golf Hall of Fame for 2024.

Ted Ray to be snubbed again from the World Golf Hall of Fame

While golf fans are talking about Tiger Woods’ next appearance on the field, other major announcements continue to shake the pillars of the sport. The late professional golfer had set numerous records during his prime years in the sport. His Open Championship victory in 1912 was one of his most memorable wins in history. And not to forget, he also won another major championship in 1920 when he claimed the title for the US Open. Moreover, he also led the British Ryder Cup team as their captain during the inaugural season in 1927.

After Ray’s victory at the 1920 US Open, runner-up and fellow citizen, Harry Vardon, wrote a story about the golfer’s win in The Milwaukee Journal. Vardon wrote, “A man who has the reputation of brilliance rather than steadiness won the victory on steadiness…I have never seen a finer field of golfers in any tournament, and it took more than ability to make the strokes to win it.” That’s how talented the golf star was during his time on the field.

The great golfer passed away on 26 August 1943, but countless golf fans still remember his records. And so, his being absent from the Hall of Fame considerations for 2024 is a big blow for his admirers.

The list of finalists is reported to include Peter Alliss and Isao Aoki, who have never won a major championship. But fans still hope that Ray will join Vardon in the World Golf Hall of Fame someday in the future.
