

South Korean golfer Jin Young Ko has set a new milestone in the history of women’s golf. Despite not having the best finish at KPMG Women’s PGA Championship she still set a new record.
She spent a record-breaking 159 weeks as the No. 1 player in the Rolex Women’s World Rankings. Surpassing the previous mark held by Mexican legend Lorena Ochoa.
Ko’s accomplishment solidifies her status as one of the sport’s all-time greats. This achievement comes after her tie for 20th place at the 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She maintained her top-ranking position there.

Jin Young Ko’s historic reign at No.1
Since April 2019, Jin Young Ko has held the coveted No. 1 position on five different occasions. Her latest stint at the top began in May, following a remarkable run of consistent performances.

Lorena Ochoa, one of the most celebrated players in women’s golf, previously held the record for 158 weeks at No. 1, achieved during her dominant stretch from April 2007 to May 2010.
