Justin Thomas makes J.T. Poston’s caddie a fun victim of a bet
Justin Thomas got off to a solid two-under-par start at the 2023 Valspar Championship. He holed an eight-foot par putt on his final hole on Thursday. It also won him a nice side bet against his playing partner. But there is a twist, no money was involved. J.T. was playing with J.T. Poston at the championship. The final putt gave the two-time major championship winner a one-shot victory in their individual matchup. Now according to the bet, Poston’s caddie would have to wear a bib that says, “The Other J.T.“!

It was the perfect opportunity for Thomas to take advantage of a fun pairing—and Valspar’s fun tradition. Encouraging nicknames on caddie bibs is a fun tradition loved by all. Undoubtedly, the FedEx Cup winner has as many majors on his resume as Poston has PGA Tour titles. Therefore, he is always going to have the ultimate bragging rights in this battle. Poston was always going to be “
The Other J.T.” in this pairing. Now fans at Innisbrook will just be reminded of that fact the rest of the week. However, nothing will surpass two years ago when Mark Hubbard had his caddie wear one that said: “Kick Me.”

According to the Valspar Championship press release, Thomas is committed to the event. The tournament director, Tracy West, spoke about the golfer. She revealed excitement and said, “Jordan, J.T. and Sam are three of the best American players in the world. They all have had exceptional results at the Valspar Championship in the past, and we are thrilled they are rejoining us on the Copperhead.” And we agree with West here.
The pro golfer fires up against the new USGA and R&A rule
Ahead of the Valspar Championship, Thomas talked to reporters. He also presented his views on the new rule proposal. According to him, it was a “selfish” decision by the U.S. governing body of golf, which runs the U.S. Open. The PGA Tour pro said, “My reaction was disappointed and also not surprised, to be honest. I think the USGA over the years has, in my eyes — it’s harsh, but — made some pretty selfish decisions.” The rule has received criticism from many, and one more got added to the list.
